Therapy

So in my efforts to save us money I pulled out the cloth diapers last month. And I got to thinking...how more could we save money, by hanging them outside of course! So we set up a clothesline on our new deck and I started hanging laundry. At first it was just the diapers, then I thought, it's gorgeous out here, why don't I hang what I can. You know what I discovered? I actually enjoy hanging laundry on my back deck! It's therapeutic for me and I actually enjoy it. Go figure!

First REAL Haircut

So M's hair was getting a bit straggly and I knew I had to do something about it. I checked some books and videos out at the library and was determined I'd teach myself how to cut hair. So I set to work and within a few snips realized this was going to be shorter than I imagined. For about a week I mourned the length but it's actually turned out to be pretty cute and it's very easy to manage. It's even cuter when I can get her to let me put a clip in!

Two Cuties

We have a couple who we've been friends with for a while and our kids match up almost exactly. Last time they were a month after ours and this time they were two weeks ahead. Here are the latest boys...our's and there's. Aren't they adorable!

She sat still!

A few Saturdays ago Daddy had to play a job for a block party. We went along to enjoy the festivities. It was great. Tyson Chicken was there with free samples and there were lots of treats, balloons, stickers and things to do while we waited for Daddy to do his job. It's always fun to watch him play and be able to watch people enjoy his playing. There was one group that was doing face painting. M was so excited and sat very still. She loved her balloon and even go to go in a small petting zoo. I told her she had to wait for Daddy because I couldn't maneuver F and help her at the same time. She was so excited once he came out and could take her to the goats!

Pests

So where we've moved to is amazingling gorgeous. It comes with its pests though. We're currently waging the war of the ants. We're guessing they live under our siding. And I've found a couple of the eight-legged and "hundred" - legged variety in our basement too. There's a wash bucket on my laundry room windowsill that trapped this spider. The day before it had trapped a 2 inch house centipede. Now I know these are helpful creatures (and non-poisonous) but they sure do trip me out. The picture on the left is our mailbox. We're guessing the ants use our warm, black mailbox as some sort of incubator. It's amazing how fast they can transport these larva type things. They can empty quite quickly. I've learned if I just keep the door of the mailbox open it keeps the temperature down and they don't like it. Anyway, we buying the name-brand ant killer that everyone swears by but our issue seems to be bigger than one dose so we've taken to doing it ourselves. Go borax and sugar!

Stupid Tax

So I've realized that I've had only a handful of eight hour nights of sleep since F was born a few months ago. Granted it's not all his fault. He sleeps a good ten hour night -- we just go to bed to late for the hour he chooses to rise. Anyway, so sleep deprivaiton is taking its toll and causing me to pay another "stupid tax". Some of you may have read the blog about the crib part I threw out. Well, my stupid tax of having to dig through the outside trash can happened again. This time it was a $50 Lowes gift card. I'm just grateful I realized I'd misplaced it before our trash day came and went!!

By the way, aren't my kids super cute! I sure am a blessed mommy!

Shopping Carts

She knew right where they were. Saw them from across the store and promptly secured one for our shopping adventure. Those are the pine nuts for our only batch of pesto this summer. Thanks to the gracious contribution of a ton of basil from a friend.
